Car Hire with a debit card is now available from VC Bird Airport! VC Bird Airport is the sole airport serving the dual island nation of Antigua and Barbuda, and is based just outside the capital of St John’s on the larger island of Antigua. A beautiful Caribbean paradise, Antigua was first discovered in the west by Christopher Columbus himself, naming the island after the Church of Santa Maria La Antigua – a 12th century church in Valladolid, Spain, later being colonised by the UK before gaining independence in 1981. Being a tropical paradise, tourism is a vital part of Antigua’s economy today, accounting for around 80% of the nation’s entire GDP!
You really don’t need me to give you reasons to visit Antigua – the hundreds of tropical beaches are plenty reason enough! From the bustling Valley Church Beach to the pink sands of Half Moon Bay, all with their different quirks, activities and restaurants. Antiguan beaches are particularly praised for their cleanliness – a rarity in most tourist hotspots. The beaches aren’t just for relaxing too – they’re also home to a number of activities for thrill seekers, such as snorkelling, scuba diving and kayaking. Moving further inland you also have the dense tropical rainforests – perfect for island safaris, hiking and helicopter tours.
VC Bird Airport is based just 5 miles north of the capital, making it a great place to collect your car from. With desks in terminal (and even hotel deliveries available), collecting your car couldn’t be easier!
What Debit Cards do we accept, and how does it work?
We can accept any standard Visa or MasterCard debit cards, they just need to be linked to the driver’s bank account and have the driver’s name on it. We cannot take any prepaid or top-up cards, nor Maestro or V-Pay.
