We can now offer car hire with a debit card at Samos Airport! Samos is a lush, mountainous Greek island in the north-eastern Aegean Sea, and is rumoured to be the birthplace of the Greek goddess of family and marriage, Hera. And not just Hera either – despite it’s small size Samos was home to a whole cast of famous historical figures! It was also the birthplace of Pythagoras, the famous mathematician most known for his eponymous theorem, and Aristarchus – the astronomer that originally proposed that the Earth revolves around the sun.
Of course, with Samos being an ancient Greek island in the Mediterranean – you really don’t need me to give you reasons to visit! The warm climate, blue seas and golden beaches are plenty enough reason for most. There’s no shortage of important cultural sites to visit also – the Heraion is particularly noteworthy. Though mostly ruins now, the Heraion was originally a huge Ionic temple to the goddess Hera, considered one of the most impressive temples in ancient Greece. It stood tall on 115 separate columns, of which just a single one remains today! There’s also the Tunnel of Eupalinos, an engineering marvel that served as an aqueduct over 1000m in length – one of the first of its kind.
Samos Airport is a small single terminal airport just 5km from the nearby town of Pythagoreio. With desks directly in terminal for collection, renting a car from Samos Airport is as convenient as it gets.
What Debit Cards do we accept, and how does it work?
We accept any standard Visa or MasterCard debit cards, they just need to be linked to the driver’s bank account with the driver’s name on it. We cannot take any prepaid or top-up cards, nor Maestro or V-Pay.
