Caen Airport Car Hire with a Debit Card
We can now offer car hire with a debit card at Caen Airport! Caen is a city in northwestern France, formerly part of Normandy and as such has had quite the tumultuous history! Beginning as a small Roman settlement initially, Caen began to flourish under the Normans from the 10th century onwards, and was a particular favourite of William the Conqueror’s! He began construction on the grand Chateau de Caen and also the famous Abbey of Saint Etienne, where he was eventually buried. Caen was also a key city in the Battle of Normandy during WWII, which saw a lot of damage to the city’s historic buildings, leading to extensive postwar reconstruction.
With such a rich history there’s a ton to see and do! The main attraction of course though would be the Chateau de Caen, one of the largest medieval castles in Europe, built by William the Conqueror himself! The castle has been the subject of many a siege throughout history, particularly during the Hundred Years War, and was even used as a bomb shelter during WWII. Or you could pay a visit to the tomb of William the Conqueror in the magnificent Abbey of Saint Etienne, a beautiful former Benedictine monastery. Whilst he was buried there originally, only a single thigh bone remains thanks to multiple grave robbings! There is also of course the Memorial de Caen, a museum commemorating WWII and Caen’s part in it.
Caen Airport is in the small town of Carpiquet, just a few km west of Caen, and sees over 200,000 passengers a year. With car hire desks directly in terminal, collecting your car couldn’t be any easier!
What Debit Cards do we accept, and how does it work?
We can accept any standard Visa or MasterCard debit cards, they just need to be linked to the driver’s bank account and have the driver’s name on it. We cannot take any prepaid or top-up cards, nor Maestro or V-Pay.

Nope! We can arrange rentals with a deposit as low as just 100 EUR.
It depends on the supplier, but it’s either just debited and refunded or held as a pending transaction temporarily.
You can rent any standard models from mini Fiat 500’s to large 9-seat passenger vans. We just can’t rent out premium cars is all.
No extra costs at all!
Yes certainly, we can rent to anyone over the age of 21.
For rentals in France you would need to have held your licence for at least a year.
Yes, you can take into it most of Europe, just make sure you inform us when booking.
No, zero excess is completely optional, but you can add it on if you want to of course.
