Car hire with a debit card at Aalborg Airport is now available! Aalborg is a large city built upon the narrowest point of the Limfjord, making it a hugely important port for Denmark both today and throughout history. Dating back to over a thousand years ago, the city actually has Viking origins, with a large Viking settlement in the area from the 9th-11th century. This settlement then slowly evolved into the city we know today, serving as a crucial port for trade between Scandinavia and the Hanseatic League. The city has also been known as an industrial powerhouse through the 20th century, becoming known as “the city of smoking chimneys” in the 1960’s. This is changing in recent years though as Aalborg shifts to a more service based economy, with the area gentrifying and increasing in tourism.
Aalborg is a perfect place for a weekend getaway, and now is it the best time to do it before it becomes a tourist hotspot! The city is full of old historic buildings built in the traditional timbered Scandanavian styles, such as the magnificent Jens Bang’s house, a five-storey Renaissance mansion, or Aalborghus Castle, a 16th century royal residency. For more modern architecture you also have the Utzon Center, the last building designed by the famed architect Jørn Utzon, the mastermind behind the Sydney Opera House, and the imposing House of Music building. Other popular attractions include the Viking burial site Lindholm Høje with it’s beautiful stone circles, and the famously clean Limfjord harbour baths.

What Debit Cards do we accept, and how does it work?
We can accept any standard Visa or MasterCard debit cards, they just need to be linked to the driver’s bank account and have the driver’s name on it. We cannot take any prepaid or top-up cards, nor Maestro or V-Pay.

Not at all, in Denmark we can rent with deposits as low as just 1000DKK (£100).
It depends on the supplier, but it’s either just debited and refunded or held as a pending transaction temporarily.
All standard cars are fine, from mini cars to 9-seat passenger vans. Premium cars are the only restriction when using a debit card.
No extra costs at all!
Yes of course, we can rent to anyone over the age of 19.
Yes, you can take the car into most of Europe, just make sure you inform us when booking.
No, zero excess is completely optional, but you can add it on if you want to of course.
