Car Hire with a debit card at Yerevan Airport is now available! Yerevan is the capital city of Armenia, situated on the Ararat Plain in the Armenian highlands, with the biblical Mount Ararat providing an imposing backdrop and dominating the skyline. It’s one of the oldest continuously habited cities in the world, founded in the 8th century BCE as the fortress Erebuni by an Urartian King. The kingdom fell eventually but the area remained inhabited ever since, with even the name Yerevan being derived from Erebuni. Since then the city has changed hands between more empires than you can count, including the Romans, Achaemenids, Sasanians and Ottomans to name a few, before Armenia finally gained independence from the Soviets in 1991.
Yerevan has seen a ton of development in the past decade and is now quite the tourist favourite, with a host of luxury hotels, a thriving nightlife scene and some great Armenian restaurants. With such a rich and varied history, there’s no end of things to see and do! One of the biggest attractions are the ruins of the original Erebuni Fortress, easily visible on a hill above the city. This is where the original city was founded a good 2800 years ago, and many of the foundations and interior walls still remain intact. Or instead you could pay a visit to the Cascade Complex, a huge limestone stairway that also doubles up as the site of the Cafesjian Museum of Art, incorporating a lot of artwork into the stairway itself.
Yerevan Zvartnots Airport is the main international hub serving the entire country, and is only around 10 miles outside the city. We have car hire pickup points directly in terminal at the airport, so you can get on your way as fast as possible.
What Debit Cards do we accept, and how does it work?
We can accept any standard Visa or MasterCard debit cards, they just need to be linked to the driver’s bank account and have the driver’s name on it. We cannot take any prepaid or top-up cards, nor Maestro or V-Pay.
