Townsville is the largest city and unofficial capital of North Queensland, Australia, and is often considered one of the main gateways to the Great Barrier Reef. Blessed by a tropical climate without a strong wet season, even Townsville’s winter months are all blue skies and warm days, making it a great year round holiday destination. Originally settled as a necessary seaport for the inland cattle industry, Townsville today holds a large number of governmental buildings, is a major industrial centre and is increasingly becoming a tourist hotspot.
Townsville has far too many attractions to mention! One of it’s most popular ones is The Strand, a long tropical beachfront bursting with activities such as outdoor swimming baths, paddleboarding, skydiving and even the fantastic Strand Water Park. For a taste of the Great Barrier Reef there’s also the famous Reef HQ, the world’s largest living coral reef aquarium, showing a huge sample of native flora and fauna. And of course not least you have Magnetic Island just offshore of the city, a wildlife haven of over a thousand species. It’s also the site of the famous shipwreck of the SS City of Adelaide, which ran aground in Cockle Bay, creating a small island of its own.

No, zero excess is completely optional, but you can add it on if you want to of course.
