Chania Airport Car Hire with a Debit Card
Car hire with a debit card is now available at Chania Airport! Chania is the second largest city in Crete, behind Heraklion, and is located on the opposite western side of the island. Similarly to pretty much anywhere in Greece – Chania has an absolutely ancient history, originally the site of ancient Minoan settlement called Kydonia, which is estimated to be around 3000 years old. The city would then change hands multiple times, becoming an important city state in Classical Greece and being conquered eventually by the Romans and later Byzantines, and would come to be known as Chania around this time. The entire island was then sold to the Venetians after the Crusades, which had a huge cultural impact on the city, particularly on the city’s architecture.
Being a Mediterranean island, Chania and the rest of Crete boasts all the qualities of the region – warm climates, clear blue seas and golden beaches, basically everything you need in a holiday already. Chania is still a pretty unique place to enjoy it though, with some incredible beaches like the exotic Elafonissi Beach, or the Agia Marina Beach. One of the most popular parts of the city is the old Venetian Harbour, a beautiful picturesque waterfront with narrow alleys lined with shops and restaurants – it’s like stepping back in time 500 years. There’s also the ancient Minoan ruins to visit as well, a real piece of ancient history.
Chania Airport is located on the Akrotiri peninsula just next to Chania Harbour, and has over a hundred different international routes. The car hire desks are straight in terminal at the airport, making it a perfect pickup point, but we do have branches in the city too if hiring locally.

All standard Visa / MasterCard debit cards linked to a bank account are accepted. We cannot take any prepaid or top-up cards, nor Maestro or V-Pay.
