Car Hire with a Debit Card is now available in Strasbourg! Strasbourg is a beautiful historic city and is a real treat for those with an eye for architecture. Being situated on the Rhine, and right on the German border, Strasbourg is a meld of French and German culture. It’s actually changed hands between the two countries multiple times, with it first becoming a French city back in 1681 and reverting back and forth mostly whenever a war was won! Strasbourg is now also one of the 4 capitals of the EU, specifically the legislative and democratic capital, and is an important economic hub due to it’s location on the Rhine.
A visit would not be complete without seeing the Strasbourg Cathedral, a shining example of Gothic architecture. It cuts such an imposing figure that it was actually the tallest building in the world for over 220 years, standing at 142m tall, and construction was ongoing for over 400 years, from 1015 to 1439. The cathedral is also just a small part of the historic centre, an island known as the Grande Île. It’s also home to multiple other centuries old buildings such as the Palais Rohan, an impressive palace that served as the seat for the House of Rohan. The island as a whole was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 1988.
Strasbourg Airport is a perfect place to collect your rental car from, just 10km from the city centre. The desks for pickup are located straight in terminal as you arrive, for easy access. For those travelling by rail we also have branches at the train station too, as well as the city centre.
What Debit Cards do we accept, and how does it work?
We can accept any standard Visa or MasterCard debit cards, they just need to be linked to the driver’s bank account and have the driver’s name on it. We cannot take any prepaid or top-up cards, nor Maestro or V-Pay.
A small deposit hold is then placed on your debit card on arrival, which is released back when you return.
