The road was built in the 1800’s by the Austrian empire. Now it is open between June and September and is an important part of Giro d’Italia.

Located in Southern Germany, the Romantic Road once a medieval traderoute was transformed in the 1950s into a theme road by the german travel agents. The road stretches for 350 km from Wurzburg to Fussen connecting the centre of Germany with the south.

4. Atlantic Road – Norway
Built on several small islands, the Atlantic Road is one of the most amazing roads in Europe. The road is 8.3 km long and connects island of Averoy with the Romsdalshalvoya peninsula.
Originally designed as a railway line, the road was constructed between 1983 and 1989 and was awarded as the Norwegian construction of the century.
The Atlantic Road includes 8 bridges and few viewpoints and is considered an architectural marvel.
