Car hire with a debit card is now available at Ottawa Airport! Situated on the confluence of the Ottawa and Rideau rivers in southern Ontario, Ottawa is the capital of Canada, and it was Queen Victoria herself who chose it as such in 1865. This was no simple decision though, following years of infighting between Toronto, Quebec, Montreal and many others over which would be picked. Whilst it might seem like an odd final choice for the capital, especially compared to the much larger cities of Toronto and Montreal, it was mainly chosen as a neutral middle ground and compromise between the anglophone and francophone parts of Canada.
Being the capital, Ottawa is a hotspot for institutional and historical buildings and landmarks! A visit certainly wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Parliament Hill, where you can take a guided tour through the beautiful gothic Parliament Building by the river – especially in the winter. The city also houses many famous museums and galleries, such as the Canadian War Museum, the Canadian Museum of Nature, and the National Gallery of Canada, famously protected by the giant spider sculpture Maman guarding the entrance! Winter is definitely the time to go though, as it transforms the Ottawa canal into the world’s largest ice rink, even making it a convenient way to get around the city!
Ottawa Airport is just 6 miles south from downtown Ottawa, and sees over 3 million passengers each year. With car hire desks in terminal it couldn’t be more convenient to collect your car.
What Debit Cards do we accept, and how does it work?
All standard Visa / MasterCard debit cards are accepted, but they must be linked to the driver’s bank account with the driver’s name on it. We cannot take any prepaid or top-up cards, nor Maestro or V-Pay.
Please note for Canada you will need to be flying in and out, and have proof of return flights when collecting.

No, our debit card rentals in Canada have a very low deposit of $250 CAD.
It depends on the supplier, but it’s either just debited and refunded or held as a pending transaction temporarily.
You can rent any standard models from the mini size to large 9-seat passenger vans. We just can’t rent out premium cars is all.
No extra costs at all, you are just limited to specific suppliers.
Yes we can rent to anyone over the age of 21, even on a new licence.
