Car Hire with a debit card is now available from Plovdiv Airport! Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria, and is considered the cultural capital of the country. Known as the “City of the Seven Hills” due to the syenite hills it was built upon, Plovdiv has an absolutely ancient history, dating all the way back to 6000 BC! The city has been occupied and conquered numerous times, by many different civilizations, including the Thracians, Persians, Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans – just to name a few, before the area rejoined Bulgaria properly in 1885. Six of the seven hills still stand to this day, with the seventh being destroyed in the early 20th century and the material from it used to pave most of the city’s streets.
Thanks to its rich past, Plovdiv is the perfect place for history buffs! The city is home to numerous ancient sites, particularly Roman ones, including the famous Ancient Theatre from the reign of Emporer Domitian, the Ancient Stadium of Philippopolis modelled after Delphi, and Roman Forum which was the main gathering place for the ancient city. There’s plenty of great museums to visit too, including the Regional Archaelogical Museum which houses exhibits retracing the city’s past throughout history, and the Ethnographic Museum, which focuses more on peoples daily lives and culture. There’s also of course the popular ski resort of Bansko, Pamporovo and Borovets just a short drive away too.
Plovdiv Airport is based just outside of the city and sees over 100,000 passengers each year. With car hire desks in terminal, collecting your car couldn’t be more convenient.
What Debit Cards do we accept, and how does it work?
We can accept any standard Visa or MasterCard debit cards, they just need to be linked to the driver’s bank account and have the driver’s name on it. We cannot take any prepaid or top-up cards, nor Maestro or V-Pay.

It depends on the supplier, but it’s either just debited and refunded or held as a pending transaction temporarily.
You can rent any standard models from the mini size to large 9-seat passenger vans. We just can’t rent our premium cars is all.

Yes, you can take into most of the neighbouring countries, including Greece, Turkey, Macedonia, Romania and Serbia. Just make you inform us when booking.
No, not for UK or EU licences, or most licences issued in English.
No, zero excess is completely optional, but you can add it on if you want to of course.
