Car hire with a debit card is now available from Edmonton Airport! Edmonton is the capital of the Canadian province of Manitoba, and is North America’s northernmost city with a population of over 1 million. Sitting on the North Saskatchewan River, Edmonton was originally founded as Fort Edmonton, a major trading post for the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1795, though it was moved and reconstructed 5 different times before its final settlement in 1830! Today Edmonton is one of Canada’s most rapidly growing cities, outpacing the likes of Toronto and Vancouver, with a bustling downtown surrounded by a serene river valley.
Edmonton has a great urban centre with a ton of things to do – and one of your first stops should definitely be the West Edmonton Mall. I wouldn’t normally recommend a mall (especially for a holiday visit!) but this isn’t any ordinary mall – WEM is one of the largest in the world, with over 800 stores, and has a huge variety of activities such as bungee jumping, an indoor rollercoaster and even a tropical rainforest! For those more outdoorsy Edmonton is also just a stone’s throw away from the countryside too, with the North Saskatchewan River Valley being the largest urban parkland in NA. Here you’ll find attractions such as the Muttart Conservatory, where you can explore botanical gardens with four different themed biomes encased in glass pyramids, and Fort Edmonton Park, Canada’s largest living history museum.
Edmonton Airport is based just southwest of the city, and sees a staggering 8 million passengers each year. With car hire desks in terminal, collecting your car couldn’t be any easier!
What Debit Cards do we accept, and how does it work?
We can accept any standard Visa or MasterCard debit cards, they just need to be linked to the driver’s bank account and have the driver’s name on it. We cannot take any prepaid or top-up cards, nor Maestro or V-Pay.
Please note for Canada you will need to be flying in and out, and have proof of return flights when collecting.

It depends on the supplier, but it’s either just debited and refunded or held as a pending transaction temporarily.
You can rent any standard models from the mini size to large 9-seat passenger vans. We just can’t rent our premium cars is all.
