Car hire with a debit card is now available at Regina Airport! Regina is the capital of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, and is it’s second largest city. A fully planned city, Regina’s choosing and development was actually quite a scandal at the time, with the site being chosen simply due to the the Lieutenant-Governor’s acquisition of the land! Known colloquially as “Pile-of-Bones” because of the amount of bison bones in the area, the arid grassland was chosen over much more developed locations with better access to water and woodland. Thankfully these days Regina is far from treeless though, and is famous for it’s plentiful green spaces with over 300,000 hand planted trees, as well as other shrubs and plants.
One of Regina’s main attractions is the ever popular Wascana Centre, one of the Canada’s largest urban parks built around the Wascana Lake. Originally created by damming the Wascana Creek, the park is perfect for recreational activities such as sailing and canoeing, and is even transformed into an ice skating rink during the winter months! The centre is also home to a number of educational and recreational facilities, such as the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, the Saskatchewan Science Centre and the Conexus Arts Centre. There’s plenty to do outside the city too, such as hiking across the Wascana Valley Trails, or relaxing on the sandy shores of Regina Beach off Last Mountain Lake.
Regina International Airport is based just 3 miles out of the city, and with car hire desks straight in terminal it’s the perfect place to collect your hire car!
What Debit Cards do we accept, and how does it work?
We can accept any standard Visa or MasterCard debit cards, they just need to be linked to the driver’s bank account and have the driver’s name on it. We cannot take any prepaid or top-up cards, nor Maestro or V-Pay.
Please note for Canada you will need to be flying in and out, and have proof of return flights when collecting.
